Story

The game takes you on an epic journey across the seas, filled with adventures and new missions. Every update adds exciting challenges and new stories to explore.

One of the main storylines is the “Tall Tales,” where you search the Shores of Gold for the rare Shroudbreaker artifact. There are also other stories, such as Captain Jack Sparrow’s missions in “A Pirate’s Life,” alongside additional narratives.

Gameplay

Sea of Thieves is a first-person game where you truly feel like a pirate. Sail massive seas, uncover hidden treasures, complete quests, and protect valuable cargo while exploring a vast open world.

The main ports are where you can rest, sell loot, complete missions, upgrade weapons, or customize your ship. Islands scattered across the seas act as starting points for new adventures, offering quests from various factions and trading companies.

You can choose from different ship types, depending on your crew size. Whether you sail solo or with friends, the game offers plenty of activities thanks to continuous updates since 2018. From fighting skeleton fleets to completing story missions or engaging in player-versus-player combat, there’s always something new.

Sea battles are well-designed, offering exciting combat against other pirates or sea monsters. However, playing solo can feel less engaging as the game shines in multiplayer. The cooperative experience with friends is excellent, with cross-platform support for seamless play.

Players can fish, fight, form alliances, or compete in naval and land battles. However, reaching higher levels requires longer play sessions to progress effectively.

Graphics and Performance

The game’s visual style is unique and captivating. On PS5, the graphics are slightly enhanced compared to Xbox, with better shadows and detail. The game runs smoothly at 60 FPS with no performance issues.

Rare has optimized the game beautifully for PS5, delivering a flawless experience. Xbox Series X and Series S also handle the game well, with steady performance and impressive visuals, even on the less powerful Series S.

The game is available on Xbox Game Pass from day one, so it’s worth trying if you’re still deciding.
