A new emulator allows you to play PS4 games on your PC.
New PS4 Emulator Spine: Play PS4 Games on PC
Until recently, new emulators were mainly for older consoles like the Wii or PS2. But just two days ago, a developer named Spine surprised everyone by releasing the first version of a PS4 emulator. Yes, you heard that right—a PS4 emulator that can run over 300 games on PC!
The first reveal of this emulator happened two years ago in a YouTube video. In that video, the emulator attempted to run simple games like Mega Man Legacy Collection and Stardew Valley, but they didn’t work well—or at all. After that, there was no news until recently.
Two days ago, the same developer released a major update, including the first downloadable version of the emulator. Along with it came a list of over 300 playable games, which was a big surprise.
While you can’t play AAA games like Spider-Man or God of War on it yet, it does run simple 2D games like Dead Cells and Sonic Mania. Surprisingly, when a popular YouTuber named MVG tested Dark Souls on it, the game worked. He was able to create a character and start playing.
Not only does the emulator run games smoothly, but it also handles audio without glitches or issues. This shows the developer put a lot of effort into improving the emulator.
Currently, the emulator is only available for Linux, and setting it up is complicated for regular users. It also doesn’t support AAA games yet. However, this is a great step forward, and in the future, we might see the emulator running high-quality games like God of War or Marvel’s Spider-Man.
