Beta Review of Halo Infinite
Initial Impressions of Halo Infinite Beta Multiplayer
Fun at Its Best
Simply put, Halo has always been and will continue to be at the top of the First Person Shooter genre for its gameplay mechanics and styles that give players an enjoyable, fair, and immersive experience that respects the players. In the following, we’ll explain why this game is fun, fair, immersive, and respects players.
Combat Style
Halo focuses on direct combat rather than quick kills, which is why the Time to Kill (TTK) is a bit longer, giving you a chance to respond and shoot back at your attacker. This creates a fair competition, where it’s not always the first to shoot who gets the kill. There’s also a story-based explanation for this, as we play as armored Spartan soldiers, and their armor protects them from bullets and other threats.
Additionally, Halo focuses on movement, not just shooting. You can perform big jumps and shoot from above, slide, and hand-to-hand combat is also very important. Due to the longer TTK, there are often intense close combat moments that end with a powerful punch that eliminates the enemy.
Since the game is highly competitive, there’s no loadout system; everyone starts with the same weapons. This increases fairness. There are other powerful weapons scattered around the map, and the team that captures them first usually gains an advantage in battle. These weapons include rocket launchers, sniper rifles, swords, hammers, laser guns, and many more.
There are also useful items placed on the map, like invisibility, extra armor, quick dash, shields to hide behind, or a grappling hook to move quickly like Batman. These items don’t kill, but they help with movement and can be used to kill if you use them properly.
We should also mention that grenades are extremely important in the game. You can carry multiple grenades, and they’re your key weapon in taking out opponents. There are many different types of grenades, including the classic frag grenade, the plasma grenade (which sticks to surfaces and enemies, and if it sticks to someone, they’re done for), electrical grenades, and many others.
The combat style itself, with running, aiming, shooting, jumping, and hiding, is smooth and enjoyable. Whether you play with a controller or a mouse, the game welcomes all players. As soon as you figure out the controls, you’ll be able to play and kill easily. You’ll also be able to drive various combat vehicles like planes and tanks without difficulty.
On top of all this, the game offers deep mechanics that give you the chance to master it. There are many advanced techniques that can make you the best player in the match. It’s truly an addictive and fun experience.
Content
Halo Infinite is one of the largest competitive multiplayer shooters out there. It offers two main modes: Ranked and Unranked. As the name suggests, Ranked mode gives you a rating, and you’ll face intense competition, while Unranked is for fun.
But that’s not all. Whether you’re playing Ranked or Unranked, there are two main modes that branch from them: Big Team Battle (BTB) and Quick Play. The first, Big Team Battle, is like Battlefield, with 12 players on each side, and the map is huge, filled with tanks, cars, planes, and lots of war equipment. Quick Play is a 4v4 or 5v5 mode, much more competitive, and without tanks or combat vehicles. The map is smaller.
But wait, that’s not all XD. Whether you’re playing BTB or Quick Play, there are different types of battles that include:
1. Slayer Mode, similar to Deathmatch, where the team that kills the most wins.
2. Capture the Flag Mode, where you have to capture the enemy team’s flag and place it in your base.
3. Oddball Mode, my personal favorite, where the team that holds onto the skull the longest wins.
4. Stronghold Mode, similar to Conquest in Battlefield, with three points (A, B, C), and the team that controls them wins.
5. Stockpile Mode, where teams collect five power items and deliver them to their base to win.
As you can see, there are many modes, and these are just the ones available in the beta. More modes will be available on the official release day, December 8th.
