Senua’s Saga – Hellblade II
If you’re feeling stressed or anxious, this game might not be for you.
Because this is a game that might make you question your own mind.
Not because it’s bad, but because it’s so immersive that it fully drags you into its atmosphere.
In Hellblade 2, you play as Senua, a character suffering from psychosis, a condition where a person hears voices and imagines things that aren’t real.
The Story
The story continues Senua’s journey, a young Scottish woman seeking revenge after her tribe was attacked by Vikings, resulting in the death of her loved one.
The game begins with Senua being captured by Vikings, but she manages to escape during a storm. Her quest to find their village turns into an unexpected journey of discovering the source of evil in her world.
The 8-hour journey is a blend of psychological tension, horror, action, and drama. The game explores the idea that evil stems from the pain inflicted on people, a concept beautifully portrayed.
Acting Performance
The acting is one of the best I’ve seen in gaming. Senua’s expressions and emotions are deeply immersive, making her one of the most compelling female characters in gaming today.
Gameplay
The gameplay combines challenging puzzles and cinematic combat. However, it can feel repetitive due to the one-on-one combat system. The diversity of enemies adds variety, especially in the later stages.
Graphics
The graphics are stunning, showcasing the power of Unreal Engine 5. From lighting to detailed textures, the game feels like a true next-gen experience.
Sound
The 3D sound design enhances the psychological tension. The voices in Senua’s head are incredibly immersive, creating an unforgettable experience.
The game is available on Xbox Game Pass, making it a must-play. Despite some flaws, it’s a unique experience worth exploring.
